How do you accept yourself? The only way to truly accept yourself is by accepting your Godly purpose. Even more, is the acceptance of your God-given purpose so that others may benefit. The manifestation of God's purpose is a call to everyone....having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us...(Romans 12:6 KJV). There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but they are all from the same Spirit. There are different ways to serve, but we serve the same Lord. And there are different ways that God works in people, but it is the same God who works in all of us to do everything. Something from the Spirit can be seen in each person. The Spirit gives this to each one to help others. (I Corinthians 12:4-7 ERV) When we come together in fellowship God's purpose is for us to use our different gifts and talents to build one another. So, brothers and sisters, what should you do? When you meet together, one person has a song, another has a teaching, and another has a new truth from God. One person speaks in a different language, and another interprets that language. The purpose of whatever you do should be to help everyone grow stronger in faith (I Corinthians 14:26 ERV). Furthermore, God has called men and women to prepare and equip you for your purpose...God gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ...(Ephesians 4:11-12 KJV). Sometimes we think our purpose is some grandiose platform or displayed only in those who look richly blessed and/or sanctified but are daily lives and decisions demonstrate our Godly purpose. In fact, I always enjoy the simplicity in Jesus' response in Luke 8:21 when his mother and brother were pressing to get to him and the people still had not caught on to his purpose of being about his Father's business. Although, he recognized that they were his natural family, he shared publicly that his true family are those who follow and obey the teachings of God. Living a life constantly displaying your obedience to God may be your purpose, and the greatest one in my eyes. Accept your purpose, become devoted to that purpose, and believe in the power, authority, and grace given to operate in your purpose. In I Thessalonians 1:1-6 Paul, Timothy, and Silvanus were not only operating in the power they were given but they were confident that the Good news they were preaching was true. In I Thessalonians 2, Apostle Paul speaks of the work God gave them to spread the Good News in Thessalonica after being tested and trusted to do so. He goes on to highlight what I believe is the most fundamental principle when accepting your Godly purpose-that is- your purpose is simply to please God and not man. We are all called to become like Christ and become equipped in every good and perfect work, and maintain good works even in the hardest times. But you are his chosen people, the King’s priests. You are a holy nation, people who belong to God. He chose you to tell about the wonderful things he has done...(Peter 2:9-10 ERV).
